Sensory Regulation: Neurodivergent children often experience sensory sensitivities or overload. A quiet room offers a controlled environment with minimal sensory input, helping them regulate their sensory experiences and reduce stress or anxiety.
Independence and Self-Regulation: A quiet room encourages children to develop coping strategies and self-regulation skills. Over time, they can learn to recognize when they need a break and use the space independently to manage their needs.
Improved Focus and Learning: By offering a break from overstimulation, a quiet room can help children recharge, making it easier for them to focus and engage in learning or social activities afterward.
Emotional Calming: The quiet and predictable nature of the room can help children self-soothe and manage overwhelming emotions. It provides a space where they can retreat to regain composure and feel secure.
